Our 131st Meeting was held on September 26, 2015 at Kojimachi-Kuminkan. Vice President TM TK introduced guests. Today we had 5 guests: 2 guests from other Toast Masters clubs in Tokyo, one from JETM, Korea, who visited Japan as her summer vacation trip, and one first-time guest.

 TM TK thanked TM YS to have taken the open role of TMOM voluntarily, and passed a baton onto him. TMOM, TM YS first commented about the Japan-Korea meeting held from September 18 to 20 in Korea and how he was inspired by their energetic actions, and appreciated JETM’s warm hospitality and friendship.

 Today’s Word of the Morning was announced by TM MY as “Perspective” in English and “Shiten” in Japanese. The words were chosen because it was an easy word but not used so often in a daily conversation.

 As the News of the Week, TM SN talked about the news that Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida visited Russia last week and had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov about the Northern Territories issues. TM SN’s one of the possible proposed solutions was for Japan to offer an economic deal to Russia in compensation of the lands.

 There were 4 prepared speeches. First speech was made by TM NS with the title “Un cappuccino, per favore!”. Her speech made us feel like going to have a cup of coffee and trying different types of café in Tokyo. Second speech was delivered in Japanese by TM KT with the title “[Kiku] to wakaru – hito no kimochi”, which entertained us with full of his personal stories relating to his shy personality to relationship with a girl. Third speech was made by TM YK with the title “Freezer will change your life” where she showed us how she started cooking at home by utilizing a freezer, i.e. by stocking vegetables and meats in a big freezer and how it will make her life healthier and more economical. Last speech was delivered in Japanese by TM EA with the title “Zannen na Otto”, which was the title of a popular Japanese TV drama run early this year. Her speech was so amusing that it made us all laugh.

 After a break with a lot of great snacks, Table Topics session was hosted by TM MN.

Evaluation session was led by General Evaluator TM YI. Today’s evaluators for the prepared speeches were TM TK, TM YH, TM YA and TM YY.

The Awards were given to following members;

TM NH (Guest) for the best Table Topics,

TM YA for the best Evaluator

and TM NS for the best Speaker

During the guest comments, one of the guests declared to join our club.
